A new group of workers joined UCTE under Local 20221. For the past decade, the function of dispatching in the Operations Centre has been handled by a contractor. In May of 2020 we saw success in bringing this function back in house with the addition of the Airport Operations Dispatcher role.

YVR’s management and Local 20221 worked together to make this a reality. There is a continued commitment from both sides to continue to work together and to achieve more successes like this. It was also recently announced that YVR will bring customer care back in house which has been contracted out since the 1990s. This will result in the creation of approximately 100 new roles within the Airport Authority.
