Leave 699 is a code used for public servants who cannot work during a pandemic. Last November, Treasury Board unilaterally decided to place restrictions on this type of leave.
By its decision, Treasury Board created an injustice for public servants who are most affected by the pandemic. UCTE and PSAC believe it is unfair for Treasury Board to impose new restrictions on the application of the code. That is why PSAC has filed two more policy grievances.
In addition, PSAC has filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. All employees are entitled to use Leave 699, as it is part of their collective agreement. Treasury Board’s decision in this time of global crisis is unfair to these Canadian public servants.
