The UCTE LGBTQ2+ Coalition

Unions have advocated in the workplace for the rights of all members regardless of race, religion or gender identity. In order to do this, we need to educate ourselves and the best way to do that is through input from members.

In 2011, after 2 conventions, the members approved receiving education about homophobia and transphobia. This was delivered in 2012 and 2013. Since that time, UCTE has actively been sharing research and information as we go – however, we know we can do a better job of being inclusive. The National Executive would like to take this education further.  UCTE is committed to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of our members from lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, transexual, and two-spirited communities.

Denise Reynolds, UCTE’s Human Rights Officer, has been mandated to lead a LGBTQ2+ Coalition whose mandate will be to educate and create understanding for our membership. To that end, we are looking for members who may be interested in participating in the coalition.

Please email Denise at ucte-ucet@psac-afpc.com if you are interested in participating on this coalition or if you have any questions.
