PSAC has presented its submissions before the Public Interest Commission (PIC) for the Program and Administrative Services (PA) group, common issues tables and the Education & Library Sciences (EB) group. The PIC hearing for the Technical Services (TC) table starts today. These are the first of five scheduled hearings which impact UCTE members. A report with the commission’s recommendations for a settlement is expected early in the new year for those hearings which have already happened.

Even with the PIC process underway, your bargaining teams and PSAC have not stopped working towards achieving an agreement. Brother Chris Aylward, PSAC National President, has written to the Prime Minister restating your commitment to reach an agreement that recognizes compensation for the damage done to you by Phoenix. Likewise, PSAC launched a public advertising campaign that also coincided with the return of Parliament and the first PIC hearings.

Regardless of these action, we must continue to work on several fronts to achieve our goals. Plans are in process for other activities or actions that can take place to help pressure Treasury Board to finish collective agreement negotiations. These may require your help. Affected UCTE/PSAC local executives will be providing information and updates to members throughout the next few months as things unroll.
