Last April, government decided to suspend recovery of new overpayments and pension arrears as a result of the problems caused by the Phoenix pay system. This was done in order to mitigate the financial difficulties that may have been caused by COVID-19.

Government has now resumed collection of the overpayments and pension arrears. It is important to note that all overpayments continue to be taxable. Members who have an overpayment identified by the Phoenix pay system will be issued a new tax slip for the corresponding year.
