COVID-19 and the UCTE Convention – A message from the National President

Sisters and Brothers,

To say that the novel coronavirus is top of mind for everyone is an understatement. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) provides up to date information about the spread of the virus across Canada and the rest of the world, as well as information about steps we all can take to protect our health and those around us. Your union has been actively monitoring these developments and its impact.

You will have also heard about many organizations cancelling events such as conferences and conventions – anywhere that may have massed gatherings. Specifically, with regards to 18th Triennial Convention that is scheduled for late July 2020, UCTE is currently not cancelling the Convention at this time. We are assessing the risk as new information is received and are developing various scenarios should we need to modify or cancel the face to face meeting.

The health and safety of our members is our paramount concern. Please visit our website or, if you have any questions, contact your regional vice-president. If you would like more information about the impact of COVID-19 in Canada, please visit the PHAC website.

In solidarity,

Dave Clark
National President
