UCTE reps help complete joint study to identify risks and support action
We’re taking trauma, post-traumatic stress, and other mental health harms in the workplace very seriously, and we’re taking it on as union work.
Employers have a legal duty to provide a safe workplace. That includes understanding better how workers in the Program and Administrative Services and Technical Services groups can be exposed to trauma and mental health risks.
Two UCTE representatives worked on the Joint Committee on Mental Health Support Mechanisms. PSAC negotiated the committee with Treasury Board in 2020. The committee used working groups and mental health literature to identify needs for mental health supports, to evaluate existing support mechanisms, and to recommend promising practices.
