In memoriam – Wayne Elliott

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brother Wayne Elliott, former UCTE National Vice-President.

Wayne was born and lived in Nova Scotia where he worked as a fire officer with Transport Canada at Halifax Airport for 18 years. He moved to Ottawa, ON in 1985 when he was elected to occupy the position of UCTE’s 2nd National Vice-President.

He then was elected to the position of National Vice-President – a position he held until 1993. From 1993 until 1999 Brother Elliott continued as a member of the National Executive as Regional Vice-President, Ontario, and was re-elected to the position of UCTE National Vice-President in 1999. He held this position until his retirement in 2005. Upon retirement he went back to his beloved Nova Scotia where he lived the rest of his life to the fullest.

Wayne will be remembered for his love of music. Even in retirement, he played with a number of bands, organized many musical events and supported many charities and events. He accepted any opportunity to play and sing.

Our condolences go to Gloria, his wife of 61 years, his daughter Julie, son David, and the rest of the Elliott family and friends.
