It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brother Wayne Elliott, former National Vice-President of UCTE.

Wayne was born and raised in Nova Scotia where he worked as a firefighter for Transport Canada at the Halifax Airport for 18 years. He moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1985 after being elected as UCTE’s Second National Vice-President.

He was then elected as National Vice-President, a position he held until 1993. From 1993 to 1999, Brother Elliott remained on the National Executive as Ontario Regional Vice-President and was re-elected as UCET National Vice-President in 1999, a position he held until his retirement in 2005, after which he returned to his beloved Nova Scotia where he lived the remainder of his life to the fullest.

Wayne will be remembered for his love of music. Even in retirement, he played with several bands, organized many musical events, and supported many charities and events. He accepted every opportunity to play and sing.

Our condolences go out to Gloria, his wife of 61 years, his daughter Julie, his son David, and the rest of the Elliott family and friends.
